of customer care, the scheduling of person-to-personmeetings

The Customer Guardian programwas reintroduced. In the
new format, guardians visit construction sites anddo internship

(or “Building Letters”) program has
alsoadvancedand certified its second class. Jéssica explains that
through theprogram, thecompany supports and invests inem-
ployee literacy.Thework is carried out in partnershipwith the

“Sergipe Alfabetizado”
of the federal and state govern-
ments.

Growth in large-scale constructionprojects inBrazil and
newproductsarethebetsfor2014.
After onlyfive years supplying themarketwith construction
chemicals,CamargoQuímica,headquartered inBlumenau,San-
taCatarina, had itsbestperformanceever in2013.According to
the salesfigures, the turnoveruntilDecember grew100percent
compared to2012.Thegrowth rate is representativeof sales that
went toboth for small and largeconstructionprojects, including
companiesthatpurchasedproductsforresaletoFIFAWorldCup
constructionsites.
ToCamargo’sDirector Fábio Pires, the significant growth is
amotivation tokeep investing in2014. “Yearafteryear, sincewe
started out in 2008, we have been exceeding our development
goals.But the investmentsandexcellentdealsmade in2013 sur-
passed expectations and ensured our 100-percent growth. For
that reason, we plan several new actions for this year, including
thedevelopment ofnewproducts andexpansion in themarket-
place, with a view to achieving this result once again,” he con-
cludes.

Henkel is the company responsible for the bonding of the
wooden lining on the first EcoCommercial Building in Latin
Americaand the sixth in theworld: Bayer’snewbuilding inSão
Paulo. The EcoCommercial Building (ECB) is a global initia-
tiveofBayerMaterialScience for the constructionof sustainable
buildings.Henkel joined theprogram in2013 inorder to supply
environmentally friendlyproducts, contributing toseveral appli-
cations in theconstructionmarket.
Inorder tobond the180 squaremetersofwooden lining for
thenewsustainablebuilding,HenkelusedPurbond, a lineofad-
hesivesbasedonpolyurethaneresins(PUR).ThePurbond lineof
adhesives is suited forbonding structural elements in industrial,
commercial and residential buildings. Formaldehyde-free, the
adhesive isalsosolvent-freeand thus isodorless.
AkzoNobelPartnerinInitiativeforSupplyChainsin
theChemical Industry
AkzoNobel, the world’s largest paint and coatings company
and a leading producer of specialty chemicals, reinforced its
commitment to introduce improvements in theglobal chemical
supplychainsby joining theTogether forSustainability (TfS) ini-
tiative.
Established in2011, thepurposeof theTfS is todevelop and
implement a global audit program for assessing and improving
sustainabilitypractices inthesupplychains involved inthechem-
ical industry.
The company joined the six preceding members already
present—BASF, Bayer, Evonik Industries,Henkel, Lanxess, and
Solvay. The goal is to follow establishedprinciples, such as the
UnitedNationsGlobalCompactandtheResponsibleCareGlob-
alCharter.
